Well those abstraction wankers usually do not come cheap. So from customer's standpoint they have hired experienced and well paid programmers but the result is still crap.

Yep, one of the catch 22's of tech is that you need good people to recognize good people. I think it's why tech tends to congregate in hubs in spite of the lack of any real intrinsic need to it to do so.
