It's just like insurance, you are required to have it but when you need it and have to use it the insurance company jacks up the price from that point on.
It's a little bit worse than that. Most insurances will at least pay up and then jack up the price. 100tb.com is not paying up (as in: providing service), instead they canceled the contract, apparently on short notice.
