I made the same choice. This is exactly the type of behavior antitrust is supposed to prevent, and it's the same reasoning behind the Microsoft antitrust action in the late 90s: it's OK if you built up a monopoly because you had a superior product, but it is NOT OK to leverage that monopoly to dictate other areas of the marketplace. It would be OK if Google released AMP and everyone jumped on it because it was a great product. The only reason anyone uses it is because Google gives it prominent position in search results, and search position on Google is make or break for anyone publishing content on the web. |
