It looks like you right: sleeping in S0 is not supported by Linux, only Windows does this:

ACPI Sleep States (S0 - S5)

•S0: Normal Powered-On state

•S1 Standby

•S2: Not supported

•S3 Suspend to Ram

•S4 Suspend to Disk
