The same is reported in the journal, Nature, which requested a comment from the FCC but didn't receive a reply. The Hackaday article contains this line: "FCC Chairman Ajit Pai rejected the request, stating that there was an “absence of any technical basis for the objection.” But the Washington Post really zeroes in on the FCC, reporting unresponsiveness to the NOAA, NASA, and even the House Appropriations Committee.
