That sounds useful, but I'm unfamiliar with iTunes and its store, and would rather not register with them or use their software. Is there some easier way to do it?

It's done thru iTunes itself, and is pretty straight forward. If you have an iTunes account, just go to https://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZFinance.woa/wa/publish... and follow the steps.
