That’s not a uniquely African problem, although one could argue it’s on the more extreme end of the spectrum. Really thinking about it, it’s a need for people to work for the common good. “Rather than voting in the guy who will give me money, I’ll vote in the guy who will make sure everyone has clean water.” I assume the reason that doesn’t happen is because they tried the 2nd option and it failed. |
