As anyone who's ever played one of the recent editions of Shadowrun well knows. For those who haven't, Shadowrun is a fantasy/cyberpunk RPG, and since the most recent two editions, everything is wireless. Everything. Cameras, locks, guns, you name it. Which makes it a lot of fun for a hacker to brick an opponent's gun in the middle of combat. Or, of course, use a security camera's wireless connection to get into the larger system behind it. I hope real world security will be more sensible than that, but signs are not encouraging. |
