twblalock wasn't arguing that TLD bias is rational, but that it's a real factor that somewhat hinders large-scale adoption. Sure, Grandma or Jane Preteen has seen ".org" or ".gov" a few times, and sure the ".social" is a logical fit, but will those facts materially influence their habit of defaulting to ".com"? You make a good point about how many users will simply Google the name, which naturally opens the question about whether users will want to scroll past info on the band & prehistoric animal before finding the service. |
