That's an odd comment. I believe capitalism has done quite well. Let's talk about it a bit. The US currently has a huge number of people rushing to cross the border to get in. So far as I can tell, other countries (not captitalist) do not have such a rush to get in. In fact, it seems quite a few have people trying to get out. I would consider this a sign that captialism has worked, very well. Your thoughts on this? |

Capitalism has afforded the U.S with the neccessary resources and systems to deliver protections against these threats, but at the expense of longer term sustainability.
Longer term used to be far enough away that we could turn a blind eye to the very real dangers that our limitless growth at all costs economics systems create by way of the negative externalities of extract & exploit industries.
We've run out of time with regard to the longer term threats, so yes people are fleeing the innediate dangers of a house in fire, only to escape to a place where death is not as swift, their chances of survival are significantly improved, but that in no way diminishes the fact that the system that generated this stability is itself, falling apart and wreaking havoc.
