Yeah, it was truly a power shift from landed aristocrats to bankers, merchants, and lawyers. Poor people more-or-less stayed poor. And think of it, the entire French Revolution juxtaposed with the Atlantic slave trade and colonialism. I think you’re right. Progress is a marathon, every minute, every day. And it’s slow. |
