While I previously thought I might have aphantasia, I now tend to think that most people lack the ability to imagine face or other complex objects. HN threads tend to confirm this. In other words, while I can't imagine my family members' faces, I also don't think many people can. If not proven otherwise, I now assume that most people forget the visual memory of faces after a few seconds while preserving the ability to recognize people. Obviously this excludes people with photographic memory. |
