Whale blubber and mammal livers are high in vitamin c and considering primates lost the function of the GULO (L-gulonolactone oxidase) gene, one could surmise from megafauna extinctions that hunting was essential to most nomadic hominids. Also, GULO is one of many interesting genes to contemplate resurrecting. |
