I always found the grueling training regimes a race to the bottom. Yes, the first one that introduces it has an edge and crushes everything for 3-4 years but then everyone else starts doing the same training so back to square one...with the difference that now you cannot head down to the bar every now and then as everyone and their grandmothers are working out and going to sleep at 10PM to have a chance winning a game. I believe that the sportspeople should have gentlemen's agreements on the amount of training to put themselves through. |
