Sweeping generalization fail. One rumor from one distro does not a trend make. Plus, there are many more conservative distros which won't succumb to pointless fashionablism churn. And it's relatively trivial, while labor-intensive, to roll your own distro or fork a FLOSS one. Have a look at LFS. Seems like a tempest in a teapot article to invent outrage clickbait.
