As I Mexican I am only surprised by how building a wall came to be this hate crime by the USA. The majority of Mexicans support building a wall on our southern border and the distrust of immigrants is highly warranted. I can only see that the US wants one of their own as reasonable. Plus, if the militarization of the US-Mexico border leads to decreased drug and sex trafficking it would be a net positive for Mexico. Popular opinion is that the only problem it would bring would be that a lot of this immigrants would (unlawfully, of course) choose to make Mexico their home. People are shocked that there has been quite a bit of support for immigrants by our government when we have plenty of issues with our own people (lack of jobs, opportunities, very low quality education, famine) to be concerned for the welfare of strangers. Plus the immigrants reputation is earned; South American gangs have become a scourge of our cities outskirts. |
