LTS (16.04) I have mission critical data and software on this computer. When I upgrade to 18.04 LTS in a few weeks it will be on a new computer. Haven't tried Gnome yet.
On first release in Ubuntu, Gnome3 was still fairly unstable (that was 17.10 I believe). Apparently they fixed some of those problems in following releases, unfortunately I can't confirm that. The design stayed the same and it's not ideal, especially when used on small screens like my travel laptop Thinkpad X230 (12"). If you are still not convinced just take a quick look at Ubuntu Mate. You may like it.
