The right sort of engineering manager for a company very much depends on the size of the organization. Large companies can afford to have professional managers with minimal technical skills because they can also afford to have lead developers and architects. In a smaller organization, that’s not possible and you need to understand the team you have and then mitigate the inevitable weaknesses of the managers. |
