Also, it should be noted, systems like UNIX are cultural artifacts. The way they are is the result of forty years of back and forth debate and negotiation and eventually compromise. I can't speak for all of them, but I think that people that are bothered by systemd are upset that all of history has been brushed aside to make place for the preferences of just a few influential developers. Whether a feature like logout is "logical" or not, is besides the point. Operating system design isn't just about logic, it's about serving users. |
