My friend is a highschool teacher and he is teaching 12 years old kids how to program with Scratch, playing with Arduino and Minecraft. And his school is just a normal school in a small town. AFAIK they are pushing IT and English to be most important subjects in school, a lot of schools I know are recruiting IT teachers.
