I would assume this is true. In French (where Airbus comes from) 'West' is called 'Ouest'. "5240O" would be a pain.

On the other hand, in Danish and Norwegian, East is "Øst", making slashed zeros awkward together with compass directions. Dotted zeros would be better.
English is the universal language of aviation, so I'd expect the displays would be in English only.
