Lighting is pretty rough. You can completely air gap your network from the outside line by converting to fiber at some point (probably between your cable modem and your router, in a DOCSIS setup). Isn't foolproof, because lightning can induce current on your wires directly, but it'll help these kinds of scenarios. |
