Average time worked is a terrible metric to use without context. Can you provide the context of the chart? It could be argued that people are working less because of increases in automation and more schooling and a switch from shift jobs to non-shift jobs. Reportedly someone on salary would say they work 40 hours or would be assumed - we know the reality is different than that. |
