Nashville, TN has electric buses with a fancy inductive charge port on top, allowing them to be fully charged in 5-10 minutes (they do it on a regular extended stop). An arm descends above the bus until the charging port is in place. I am certain that could be dangerous at car height, but I am also certain some form of this will eventually replace the 220 or 440 line currently in use in most charging stations. I think battery swapping is a good idea, too but it isn't the only solution. |
