I've recently read Solzhenitsyn's "One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich". IMHO, this novel does a very good job at capturing one key aspect of gulag; It was not just all about "oppressor vs oppressed", but was a complex society with a particular set of rules. If you likes the works of Primo Levi, I'd highly recommend you to take a copy. |
