I just bought a 2018 MacBook Air. The keyboard is different and could do with a little more travel but I don't have a problem with it really. It's better than the wobbly piece of crap on my 2013 MBP.
It's fine if you can live with it. I can only compare it to typing on an absolute hard surface and my hands get worn out fast from that. I hate it, I wish I didn't so I could use the otherwise ok hardware :)
