Google is actually backporting a quite a lot of Pixel 3 functionality to the older phones - e.g. night sight (which makes a enormous difference for photos taken in less than ~3 lux), call screening, adjustable blur. (Full list at https://www.androidpolice.com/2018/10/13/pixel-3-features-co... ) It's pretty generous actually, Apple and Samsung rarely backport marquee features. I figure Google is trying to build up loyalty amongst Pixel and Pixel 2 owners so that they stay with the brand. |
