I've seldomly seen a PhD student in CS here in Germany with a proper software engineering background. I know several that use Dropbox for version control on their code and don't know how to use git. Some at least know and use svn. That stuff just isn't thought at universities and it's assumed, like oh so many things, that you take it up along the way. |
