The "paradox" of tolerance is trivially resolved. As stated, it is misleading, because it conflates two very different thing. A tolerant society, to defend itself, only needs to be intolerant of actions of intolerance - e.g. physical assault motivated by some prejudice. It does not need to be intolerant of intolerant speech, however. |
