Often the reason people invest in them is that they think learning the lesser-known/used language might offer them a novel view of development or provide extra capabilities in some niche. It isn't particularly different with Perl, although there is the difference that many devs think they already know what they need to know about Perl even if they've never done anything serious with recent 5.x or 6 (or at all). > Imho they should just fork Perl 6 and continue developing Perl 5. I meant rename Perl 6 into something else and develop Perl 5.xxxx into Perl 6....
