VLC can be pretty jarring. One thing I noticed a while ago is the fast-forward button behaves differently in full screen to windowed:

- Full-screen VLC fast-forward skips forward in the video by a few seconds.

- Windowed VLC fast-forward skips the entire video.

Are you sure about that? On my Mac, the full-screen overlay shows both skip and scan arrows. The windowed version normally shows just the scan arrows. You can select an option to reveal the skip arrows when windowed. In none of the scenarios do the skip/scan arrows ever change function.
