What were they thinking? That most people wouldn't know or understand the implications over centralizing all things to better collect information. For Google, they turned an old adage into becoming one of the wealthiest companies in the world with the full understanding that besides government regulations, nothing's stopping them. "Knowledge is power. Information is power. The secreting or hoarding of knowledge or information may be an act of tyranny camouflaged as humility."
