Definitely inertia. In 2004 when I moved to Mac OS X 10.3 it was amazing as a Linux server app developer. It has largely been downhill since 10.6 or .8. For every step forwards, Apple seems to take two steps back for my preferences. The personal cost of migrating from macOS and iOS in terms of time and interoperability with my family at this point are too big a price for me to pay, but regardless I spend too much mental energy on how I would migrate, and to what. I have bought a bunch of Linux and Windows laptops to try them but never can make the move. It is really disappointing that Apple does not make a back end server dev friendly computer (hardware) or operating system anymore and I have apps and workflows I like that are not amenable to an actual Linux main computer. Feel free to see my other issues in my comment history (rants?). Especially, where are my f-keys? |
