IMHO, ARM performance is "good enough" for consumption and light editing/creation.

The real test for this is software.

We've come a long way... Software vendors compiling for multiple targets doesn't seem so crazy anymore. We've got toolchains that are good at that, and we don't distribute software by floppy or cd anymore. Emulation seems like the wrong way to go.
