A key sensor (Faraday cup [1]) for studying the solar wind, outside of the shield, was constructed of not one but apparently four varieties of unobtainium: Titanium-Zirconium-Molybdenum alloy, acid-etched tungsten, sapphire crystal tubes, and niobium wiring.
