But is there any evidence? The usefulness of Nortel's network tech is generally limited by the hardware platforms it was designed for, you really aren't going to run their PowerPC binaries for their PBXes and cellular gear on any other platform, and IBM isn't going to sell you the CPUs for making knockoffs in quantity. Reimplementing what Nortel had is non-trivial, but look at where Freeswitch and Asterisk are today. The closed competitors are limping along, with most repackaging the two main open source solutions. |
