I don't see the issue here. If the line is good enough for the lane detection to be expected to follow and you're not on bald Walmart tires in a rainstorm (in which case you probably should be driving manually) it'll work out fine.

The engineers that tested it undoubtedly turned it up to 11 and hauled ass around a track before dialing it back to a more "consumer friendly" setting.
