How does basketball get popular amongst a shorter population for widespread playing - according to this chart http://www.wecare4eyes.com/averageemployeeheights.htm average height in PRC is one of the bottom few.

I'm above average in UK but playing basketball or volleyball my height was always a major disadvantage. I realise you can improve your jump game (plyometrics ftw!) but still ...
