What’s interesting is that the technique he employs here (blurring the top and bottom of the sphere) sounds like something similar to what I remember reading from "Masters of Doom". Namely, that when he created Wolfenstein 3D (Doom’s predecessor), he basically only rendered the walls + sprites and not the floor or ceiling, because computers + graphics engines weren’t as capable at the time. |
