Mindfulness and Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy did it for me. You need a framework for challenging your wrong thinking. Learn to take a universal perspective, root out the self pity and resentment, and foster responsibility for yourself. I found a therapist who worked me through REBT and connected me to a fantastic meditation teacher. Obviously you need to take care of your body too, with diet, exercise and above all, the most stringent of sleep hygiene habits (probably no drugs or alcohol either, sorry). Put me 5 hours of bad sleep a night and I'll be suicidally upset about "everything" at the end of the week. |
