I can't find it now, but two or three months ago I read a story in the news about a teenage girl who bled to death after her surgeon accidentally cut in to her aorta during her tonsilectomy. The saddest thing was that it was a slow, completely preventable death, and that the doctors did not take her symptoms at all seriously, despite her coughing up copious amounts of blood, telling her and her mother that it was all perfectly normal. Very sad story.
