i love seeing wikipedia articles making it to the front page. no opinions, just a cool wiki article that probably most people have never heard of.

Me too! I love these random chunks of knowledge floating by...
Imagine submitting that and everyone will be talking about a different article.
Problem is you so often get stub articles about a town or person.
Yep - this is one of the main reasons I first gravitated to HN about 8 years ago
If I wanted to click 'random' on wikipedia, I can do it myself.

I don't browse HN for this garbage.

but its not really random is it? its just a wikipedia page that the HN community finds interesting. how is it any different from a blog post that the community has voted to the top?
