Yes and no. It's true, we ought to find ways to work together that rely on concepts like mutually assured stability instead of MAD. And there's evidence of altruism's superiority even on a biological level. There are some species of bacteria that when they run out of food will form a protective spore to wait for better times or form a stalk to move to a new location to find food. Those whose bodies form the base of these structures are effectively sacrificed, even if they aren't intelligent enough to be aware of the act. That said, it's simply undeniable that at the end of the day the force is the intrinsic and most rudimentary base of everything society has become. Public parks, schools, social welfare programs, etc... All founded on a platform of violence and murder against anyone who challenges their authority. To deny that is folly. |
