Until I read this entry's title, I'd never thought about whether Google is singular or plural—is "Google show..." an acceptable variant of "Google shows...?"

Both are fine. American English tends to treat collective nouns as singular, while British English treats them as plural. (http://www.dictionary.com/e/collective-nouns/)

In American English it's "Group does X" but in British English it's "Group do X."
