If I would have developed an algo for very profitable trading, I wouldn't share it with anyone or maybe with close friends, but just making the freaking money... That said, 99.99% out there claiming to have such a thing is just scam, crap, bs and/or non-sense. But to your question: "smaller strategies" and "not be interesting enough for larger algorithmic trading firms":
