DistrIndex facilitates crowdsourced indexing of P2P networks. Discovery and quality of content varies widely across many torrent networks, resulting in a multitude of usually shady magnet sites or high quality but closed communities like What.CD (RIP). Using an open-source music torrent network as an example. The user fills out a set schema (Artist, Album, Year, Version..) and submit it to the blockchain via a Smart Contract. The submission is checked by a group network participants who earn tokens in return for their service. Miners, as well as securing the blockchain run file validation functions. In this case, downloading the .flac on the external network and confirming the submitted meta-data is correct (file type, bit-rate..) The resulting network can be accessed and browsed through a simple DApp. Accessing the DApp requires the user to hold a certain amount of Tokens in their wallet, purchase of which is redistributed to the community. |
