If we want to get pedantic; "Nostalgia: a wistful or excessively sentimental yearning for return to or of some past period or irrecoverable condition", where there seems to be an emphasis on 'wistful', 'excessive' and 'irrecoverable' parts of the definition, which in turn can infer a negative connotation about it all.

However, I agree with you, trying to capture past enjoyments and in cases like this, continue to make new memories and fun times, go for it I say!
