This is great news – it makes the service economy more ethical. If a negative rating is left only when people were truly dissatisfied with the ride, and not every missing smile or snippy response receives assessment like in the dystopian Netflix show Black Mirror, we are actually treating our service contractors as humans. I also think it's completely fine that people are rating apps and toasters more negatively, because most of the time, the source of dissatisfaction (e.g. a bug) can be weeded out once and for all, while being an Uber driver is emotional work 10 hours a day. |
