The new iMac Pros are a good stopgap for pro users on the Apple platform.

They are nice machines with plenty of performance. With 4 Thudnerbolt ports, you have some expandability.

They're powerful machines for sure. I just can't see myself buying a "desktop" machine that's non-upgradeable and has an integrated monitor. It's basically a big laptop.

The things you want to upgrade are cpu, gpu, ram and disk. The ram is upgradable, and through thunderbolt you can upgrade gpu and storage.

It’s not the same as internal upgradability, but it’s also not insurmountable.

IIRC the CPU is a standard socketed desktop Xeon too and can be upgraded if one were so inclined.
