I would like to relate a similar story I've heard. Gary Vaynerchuk grew his father's brick and mortar liquor store from 4MM in sales to 60MM in sales on the back of digital advertising and ecommerce.
He didn't get any equity in his father's company either. His salary also wasn't lavish.
When Gary was in his 30s, he left his father's business and launched his own company. You could take what you have learned from building your father's business and launch a company on your own, where you control the equity and call the shots. If you're not happy with how your family wants to compensate you, wouldn't it be better to forge a path on your own rather than expend time and energy fighting with family? If you look on youtube for GaryVee, you can hear how he views all that work he did for his father's company. Hopefully it gives you a new perspective. |
